Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most durable kitchen sink? What's the difference between top-mount and undermount?
Stainless steel (16-gauge) is the most durable — lasts 20+ years. Fireclay and granite composite also offer excellent durability. Top-mount (drop-in) sinks rest on the countertop rim — easiest to install. Undermount sinks mount below the countertop for a seamless look and require a solid surface countertop.
What size kitchen sink do I need?
For a 30-inch base cabinet, a 27–29 inch single-bowl sink is standard. A 28–29 inch double-bowl also fits a 30-inch base. Standard sink depth is 8–10 inches.
Do you carry farmhouse (apron-front) kitchen sinks?
Yes, Express Kitchens carries farmhouse and apron-front sinks in fireclay, stainless steel, and granite composite. These sinks require cabinet modification for installation. Visit our sink page or showroom to view available styles.
Can I install a kitchen sink myself?
Yes, drop-in sinks are DIY-friendly and require basic plumbing skills. Undermount sinks require adhesive and support during installation. Farmhouse sinks need cabinet modification and are best installed by a professional.
